-SPECIAL EXHIBITION AT THE MUSEUM Lu.C.C.A.
From March 2nd to 7th 2010 the Museum Lu.C.C.A will held an exhibition of contemporary arts, whose works will be devoted during a charitable auction in Villa Bottini on sunday March 7th, for the restauration of the facade of San Francesco church.
Event organized by the Lions Club Lucca Le Mura, exhibition open from 10 am to 7pm.
-HERMES & NAPOLEON, at Palazzo Ducale
The Province of Lucca, in collaboration with Hermès exceptional and with the help of the Reunion des Musees Nationaux in France, promotes "Myth and Beauty", an exhibition that reveals the link between Napoleon and Emile Maurice Hermès in a game of correspondence between foulards the French maison, symbols, objects, artefacts and documents of the Napoleonic era.
In 1937 Emile Maurice Hermès, taking inspiration from the tradition of mouchoir de cou (the neckerchief worn today by soldiers) invented the carrè silk 90x90, turning it into an elegant women's accessory clothing.
In Myth & Beauty is also posible to see hte splendid collection of weapons that Napoleone gave to General in Chief Massena, the plaques of the original furniture Caran d'Ache, the model of sapeurs of the Grand Armee of 1806 - 1807, the objects "from the countryside" and for the travels of the Emperor, the soldiers of the Frank collection, vintage maps, the original Cocò Fountain, the machine that distilled fresh drinks in summer and cold diring the winter...
The exhibition takes the game of hidden messages of Emile Maurice Hermes and invite visitors to discover the true source of hinspiration; is an occasion to let people know, through the narratives about the silk, a history, a myth and the everyday life of the Napoleonic period, and it is also an opportunity to review a very fine vintage fashion accessories production.

-FEMALE JAZZ FESTIVAL (6th to 27th March 2010), the fifth edition is dedicated to Billie Holiday to 50 years after his death.
The Award may participate in jazz ensembles or figures where the leaders are female artists older than 14 years. There are two stages of selection: to attend the first has to be sent the questions, according to the characteristics of the notice, not later than 31 October. The six teams selected by a special jury at this stage, based on projects submitted, will perform live at Lucca Jazz Donna 2010. At that time the group winner will be chosen, which will, as a prize, publication in 200 cd of the project.

The eve of Santa Croce, a solemn procession called "Luminara" runs through the city streets from the church of San Frediano to the Cathedral S. Martino. Brings together all the representatives of the parishes of the diocese, the religious authorities, civil, political and military, and a historical parade in traditional costumes.
For the occasion, the city is lit in the streets of downtown with hundreds of wax candles very suggestive that emphasize the architecture of homes, churches and monuments.
